Distinct Antimicrobial Analysis to Evaluate Multi-Component Wound Dressing Performance

چکیده

Wound infection hinders adequate healing, being particularly grievous and prevalent in burn wounds chronic wounds. extends inflammation, preventing epithelialization angiogenesis. Therefore, prolongs healing time, steeply increases treatment costs degrades patients wellbeing. One successful strategy to control wound is apply an active dressing, able eliminate or significantly reduce the microbial population present at site. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are a multipurpose antimicrobial agent with wide scope of applications which include dressings. Nevertheless, several studies denote AgNPs dose-dependent cytotoxicity, their capability bypass blood-brain barrier induce neurotoxic effect. Hence, we propose adopt two different strategies attempt simultaneously immobilize increase load within dressing fabric. Thus, envisaged objective prevent potential systemic cytotoxicity /through immobilization improve its due higher concentration AgNPs. Two approaches were used: i. suspended alginate (ALG) solution, ii. embedded Mordenite (MOR) zeolite, followed by addition ALG solution. Both suspensions incorporated into polyester fabric assisted surface activation dielectric discharge (DBD) plasma treatment. The bactericidal virucidal effectiveness each composite was tested against bacteria species known nosocomial infections bacteriophage that surrogate severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). distinct analysis used provide insights on obtained composites indirectly assess release

Development of a Next-generation Antimicrobial Wound Dressing.

Delayed wound healing due to infection is a burden on healthcare systems, and the patient and caregiver alike. An emerging factor in infection and delayed healing is the presence development of biofilm in wounds. Biofilm is communities of microorganisms, protected by an extracellular matrix of slime in the wound, which can tolerate host defences and applied antimicrobials such as antibiotics or...

New Chitosan/Poly(ethylene oxide)/Thyme Nanofiber Prepared by Electrospinning Method for Antimicrobial Wound Dressing

A new natural and environmental friendly wound dressing was introduced for the first time that was prepared by electrospinning method. This new wound dressing has chitosan base, and poly (ethylene oxide) was added as co-spinning agent to improve spinnability of chitosan. Moreover, thyme extract as a natural antibacterial additive was introduced in the as electrospun nanofibers scaffold in order...

Wound healing and the dressing.

The evolution of surgical dressings is traced from 1600 B.C. to A.D. 1944. The availability of an increasing variety of man-made fibres and films from 1944 onwards has stimulated work on wound dressings, and some of the more important contributions, both clinical and experimental, are discussed. The functions of a wound dressing and the properties which the ideal wound dressing should possess a...

Wound Management and Dressing Selection

A holistic approach brings about a relationship between the patient, the wound, and the treatment (Flanagan, 1997). Accurate wound assessment depends on an understanding of several factors (Table 1). Other important aspects include measurement and documentation of wound healing rates and specialised areas such as leg ulcer assessment and the risk Clare Morris is Tissue Viability Advisor, North ...
